Comprehensive interior and exterior wayfinding for specialized healthcare facilities in the UAE

Project Overview

Healthcare environments require a unique balance of clarity, empathy, and professionalism. RIZQ Group was tasked with delivering a full-scale signage and wayfinding ecosystem for Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The project spanned high-impact external facade branding to intricate interior directional systems, all designed to reduce visitor stress and streamline the patient experience.
Our approach focused on creating a "healing environment" through design. By using soft gold accents, clean white surfaces, and intuitive iconography, we ensured that the facility remains easy to navigate for families, medical staff, and emergency services alike.

  • External Facade Branding: Large-format 3D illuminated hospital identification signs in both Arabic and English.
  • Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHAP) Integration: Official government branding and department-specific external signage.
  • Interior Wayfinding Totems: Slimline floor-mounted directories for main lobbies and reception areas.
  • Custom Reception Graphics: Perforated, illuminated front desk branding with integrated facility naming.
  • Medical Department Identification: Door-side and hanging signage for X-Ray units, laboratories, and specialized clinics.
  • Thematic Wall Graphics: Large-scale wall murals and privacy frosting featuring cultural and calming geometric patterns.
  • Facility & Amenity Icons: High-visibility, gold-finished icons for prayer rooms, restrooms, and changing areas.
Project Scope

Project Challenges

The primary challenge for this healthcare project was maintaining a sense of warmth while adhering to strict medical hygiene and safety standards. All materials needed to be durable and easy to sanitize without compromising the premium aesthetic requested for the Women’s and Children’s wing.
Additionally, the project required precise coordination across multiple high-traffic zones, including residency medical examination centers and active hospital wings. Managing the installation of massive external branding while ensuring interior directional signage was placed at the perfect sightlines for people of all ages—including children—required meticulous site surveying and ergonomic planning.

Outcome

The successful rollout at Al Qassimi Women’s and Children’s Hospital has established a new benchmark for medical wayfinding in the region. The final implementation provides a seamless transition from the exterior entrance to specific treatment rooms, significantly improving the operational flow of the facility.
Feedback from both the medical staff and visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the clarity of the bilingual directories and the calming effect of the integrated interior graphics. The project reinforces RIZQ Group’s expertise in delivering complex, government-standard healthcare signage.
